Since 1997, Clare Bridge has been finding beauty in the found object. Her early career was defined by grand gestures—mixed-media wall sculptures, fireplace screens, and doorways crafted from glass and reclaimed objects.
In 2001, a scholarship to study with renowned metalsmith Tim McCreight at Maine’s Haystack Mountain School of Art shifted her perspective. She discovered that the same power found in large sculptural pieces could be distilled into the palm of a hand.
Today, New Brunswick’s dramatic shorelines and diverse woodlands continuously inspire Clare’s one-of-a-kind jewellery and tableware art, offering a cornucopia of textures and designs that weave into pieces through forging, fusing and casting various fine metals. From detailed textures of lichen to the sea’s elegantly eroded shells, Clare’s work embodies examples of organic elements found in nature. Each piece tells a story.
